Reading: Turtle and Thunder


The Story that drew my attention for today came from the British North America Unit. The stories title is Turtle and Thunder. This story is about a turtle that lived all alone in a lake. One day this turtle kept having something hit his head. So, he went to the woods to find help.  He turned down many of people that offered help but finally came upon a plethora of little turtles. He brought the little turtles back to his lake, and then he went home. Then a big stone fell down and killed all the little turtles. Turtle went to see what happened and he saw a big bird overhead. This bird was the thunder bird, and since this day turtle stayed in the water when there was a storm. The plot that I got from this story was that the turtle needed to not try to fix a problem that mother nature was providing and maybe if he had used some of the other animals help his problem would be no longer.

Week 9 Reading: Mans Best Friend Betrayal

There once was a middle-aged archery hunter named Scott. He and his wife Amy lived in Utah where they raised there very trustworthy Nova Scotia Duck Tolling retriever named Bell. Scott’s best friend Jimmy was the owner of a bow shop called nocked and ready. Scott and Jimmy would spend all their time together in that shop reminiscing on old stories or at the range where it was a constant competition. Scott brought bell everywhere with him whether it be the archery shop or shooting. With this Jimmy had grown very close to bell as well. Scott would go on very long hunts sometimes for a week or two weeks and needed someone to watch over bell when he was gone and when Amy was at work. So Jimmy being the good friend he was would just bring bell to his shop to hang out. During this time bell grew very close to jimmy and without Scott even noticing bell started to favor jimmy.
