Drew Fazzino Introduction

Hi all,

My name is Drew Fazzino, I am a Senior at the University of Oklahoma. My major is Mechanical Engineering. The coolest thing about my major is seeing how different systems work together and operate. Another cool thing about my major is making parts in CAD and generating tool paths to machine your own parts in a CNC. The best class I took last semester was Computer Integrated Manufacture because I learned different CAM platforms and how to generate your own tool paths to the parts you make in platforms such as solidworks. My biggest accomplishment last semester was boosting my gpa some and just having a good semester in general. Over the summer break, I went to Colorado for a couple of weeks and relaxed a little before and after my internship at innovex downhole solutions. It was a blessing to receive the internship this summer because it gave me some great relative infield experience working with lead mechanical engineers all summer long. Although I said Colorado was my favorite place in the last blog I enjoy being on the water fishing too. I am the president of the OU fishing club this year and am really enjoying the involvement I am seeing in the club. If I had an extra fun day I would definitely spend it on the water or in the mountains. My other hobbies consist of Shooting guns, shooting my bow, hunting, and weightlifting. If I had more time one of the hobbies I would be interested in trying is working on more outboard engines. I do not have my own dog yet but I for sure want my own medium size dog once I graduate from OU. I like Country music for the most part, but I do mess around with some other music. I like any of the Chicago shows like Chicago med as TV shows go, and I like really any horror movies. For my future career I am applying to an Agriculture engineering masters program as well as continuing to apply for jobs, so which ever route is meant for me I open to taking it! There is a small taste what I am like!

  1. Hey, Drew!

You're the president of the fishing club? What a neat claim to fame. That adds some cool flavor to a resume, as well as letting you do what you love on campus. I'm not huge on hunting like you are, but I can agree with you on horror movies. I finally got around to watching Hereditary with my roommates before the semester started and it rocked me. Definitely one of the better movies I've seen recently.

Good luck with both this semester and the agricultural engineering program!

  2. Hello, Drew!

I am really impressed that you got that internship! That will definitely help you to stand out from your peers when you enter the workforce! Engineering is incredibly difficult, so I think that it is cool that you chose that as your major and were able to boost your GPA.

I see that you are also a dog lover! I am about to get my first dog in a couple of months and am incredibly excited. I hope you are able to find the perfect companion for you after you graduate--pets really make life amazing!

As far as horror movies go, one of the best ones I have ever seen is Mama. I highly recommend that you see it if you haven't already!

Good luck with the agricultural engineering masters program and your job search!

  3. Hey Drew! Congrats on being a senior, you are so close to being done! And also congrats on a Mechanical Engineering degree! My roommate is one and he is always swamped, so I can only imagine how tough senior classes are for you guys! I am also a really big fan of country music, so it's cool to see that because almost all of my friends are big rap/rock fans instead. I also love dogs and I have a Yorkshire terrier at home! Enjoy the rest of your semester, man!

  4. Hello Drew!

I can really see that you are excited about your major. It is nice to see someone that really appreciates what they are doing. That being said, you really lost me when you started talking about what your major entails. Even though I do not really understand, I will say that everything sounds really cool! On an unrelated side note, I had no idea OU had a fishing club. It must be really exciting for you to be president of a club that does something you love.

  6. Hi Drew,
Congratulations on getting your GPA up! I know from my engineering friends that that's no east feat. You must be excited to graduate and get on with your life. I don't really know anything about agricultural engineering, but it sounds important and I'd love to learn more about it.
Good luck with everything, and I hope you are able to get a dog as soon as you graduate!

  7. Hey Drew! I think it's really cool that you're president of the OU Fishing Club! That's incredible. I couldn't dream of heading an organization like that. I think it's really cool that you are able to express yourself and your hobbies in that manner. I wish you good luck in your graduate program. It seems like a handful! Have a great semester.

  8. Hi Drew,

I have a lot of respect for engineering majors! Congrats on making it to your senior year as well! You sound like a lot of people from where I grew up with your hobbies all pertaining to the outdoors.

I was curious about the different terms you used relating to your engineering hobbies. What are CAD, CNC, and CAM? Maybe I would know about them as an engineer, but I am not sure what they are as an accounting student!

  9. Hey howdy Drew. A lot of cool things going on. Very cool that you were able to spend some time in Colorado, that place is fantastic for outdoorsmen and has some fantastic fishing spots. Plus, your major seems like a pretty sweet path to go down. A masters in agricultural engineering is both very interesting and will be quite useful as the world moves forward in our life time.

  11. Hello Drew,

Mechanical Engineering is a cool major, and congrats in making to your senior year. Hopefully all goes well for you. As a System Administrator working in COE software, I can tell you that the CAD and SolidWork programs look complicated. It's really cool that you know how to make all kinds of stuff on them. I also have a couple friends who are in the OU fishing club. I think my boss Chris Kobza is a mentor there or something.

Good luck in your studies, and I look forward to seeing you stories throughout the semester!

    Best,
    Kevin

  12. Hi there Drew!

Wow, you certainly sound busy! A lot of the more technical aspects of your engineering experiences were over my head, but it sounds like you’re doing an awesome job! I’m glad you’re studying something you love. Colorado is beautiful, and it sounds like you really enjoy being in nature. I love dogs, and I have a medium sized dog right now! She’s the best. Good luck this semester!

  13. Hi Drew,

Colorado is such a nice place to visit, and I am sure it is also a great place to go fishing as you mentioned. That's super cool that you're the president of the Fishing Club on campus! I had no idea we had such a club, and I am curious as to where you all go to fish. I would assume Lake Thunderbird, as that is the closest lake, but maybe you all have some neat places you go to find the best catch.

  15. Hi Drew!
Cool you're a mechE so is my roommate! I've gotten to see her machining and autoCADing parts for her capstone and it seems really interesting. I also love Colorado there is so much to do outdoors and the weather is so nice. I think it's so cool you're the president of the OU fishing club, I like fishing at a lake or river but I can't on the ocean because I get so seasick.

  16. Hey Drew!
I'm also a huge lover of Colorado - it is such a gorgeous place with so many different things to offer. I think that you definitely have a bright future ahead of you, with multiple differing paths available - most of which you seem to be open to following. From one senior to another, good luck here at the end!

  17. Hey Drew!

I have been to Colorado about 3 times in my life, and I have thoroughly enjoyed it each time! My roommate and best friend is also a MechE major, so I know how frustrating and hard that can be, so hats off to you! My other roommate is a HUGE fisherman and goes about once or twice a week! I should tell him about the fishing club! It's really cool to get to hear more about you, I hope your semester is going well!

  19. Drew, it was really great getting to know you some through your introduction post. I think it is so cool that we are able to interact even though we are in two separate classes (I'm in Indian Epics). I think it is cool that having an online class like this allows us to do that. Again, it was great getting to know you some and the best of luck to you on your future endeavors.

  20. Hi Drew! Congratulations on your last semester! I have a ton of friends in the engineering major and they always talk about how much fun they have despite all of the work and studying that goes into it. It seems like such a rewarding major and eventual career. I also love Chicago Med and Fire but haven't gotten a chance to watch much of Chicago PD yet. it is on my list to start sometime soon. I am also a huge horror movie fanatic. Good luck the rest of this semester!
